Print this at home, or open it on a tablet and annotate with a stylus. One page per trade — fill the WHY and HOW before you enter, the OUTCOME and REVIEW after you exit.
A journal is not a diary of profits. It is a mirror. Its job is to show you — honestly — whether you followed your own rules, so you fix the decision, not chase the outcome. Grade the decision, not the result: a good decision can lose money; a bad one can get lucky. If you can't fill the pre-trade fields, you don't have a trade — a blank "maximum loss" box is the journal telling you to walk away.
My Rules — fill once, then obey
Guardrails you set while calm, so the market can't set them for you while you're not.
Total trading capital (Rs): ____________________
Max risk per trade (1–2%) = Rs: ____________________
Max loss in a single day = Rs: ____________________
Max open trades at once: ____________________
Instruments I will trade (e.g., Nifty index options only, to start): ____________________
My no-trade conditions (when I will not trade): ____________________
I only take trades where my maximum loss is defined and known before I buy. I do not sell naked options. I size every trade to my max-risk rule before looking at the potential profit. I stop for the day when I hit my daily loss limit — no revenge trades.
